The December Tornados

Last month, a late-season severe weather and tornado outbreak affected sections of the Southern US, including Kentucky

The five tornados that tore their way through the western region of Kentucky in December left devastation in their wake. One tornado was confirmed to be a category EF4, with wind speeds reaching a shocking 155 mph – 206 mph and traveling over 220 Miles.

Severe storms also roared through central Tennessee and south-central Kentucky in December, 2 years since a cluster of tornadoes hit the same region. The National Weather Service of Louisville stated that there was evidence of an EF-2 tornado in Todd and Logan County, with wind speeds of 125 mph. Allensville, Todd County, was severely hit.

Homes and businesses were damaged in multiple cities, many with their roofs torn off. Barns were severely damaged, hundreds of trees were uprooted, and power poles were knocked down.
